Note on Siddhartha’s Intent Transcripts
Founded in 1986 by Dzongsar Jamyang Khyentse Rinpoche, Siddhartha’s Intent supports Rinpoche’s buddhadharma activities worldwide by organizing teachings and retreats, distributing and archiving recorded teachings, transcribing, editing and translating manuscripts and practice texts, and establishing a global community committed to study and practice.
With the exception of its publications, Siddhartha’s Intent does not publish official transcripts of Rinpoche’s teachings. At the request of Siddhartha’s Intent, the transcripts on this website should not be considered Siddhartha’s Intent publications nor are they copyright of Siddhartha’s Intent.
Furthermore, the transcripts are edited transcripts of live teachings, and should not be taken as Rinpoche’s final word. Although every effort has been made to ensure that these transcripts (and any other references to Rinpoche’s teachings) are accurate both in terms of words and meaning, this is necessarily a case of “thus have I heard”1Ed.: “Thus have I heard” (Pali: Evam me suttam) is the first line of the standard introduction to Buddhist sutras. Traditionally, this phrase serves to confirm that the discourse is coming from the Buddha himself, as a “seal of authenticity”. However, Rinpoche has also advised us to use it to remember that our experience, understanding and recollection of a teaching is necessarily coloured and conditioned by our own projections. We cannot therefore expect that our subjective understanding or recollection of a teaching is shared by others or that it corresponds to what Rinpoche intended to communicate. See also “Thus have I heard” in wikipedia.. All errors and misunderstandings are the responsibility of the editors of madhyamaka.com. The audio and video recordings of Rinpoche’s teachings remain the definitive record.
